Position Description Summary


The George Washington University Law School seeks applications for a one-year graduate fellowship in government procurement law beginning as early as July 1, 2026, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The successful candidate will hold the title of Visiting Associate Professor of Law and Government Procurement Law Program Fellow. The Government Procurement Law Fellowship is designed to support attorneys interested in pursuing a full-time legal academic career in government procurement law and policy. During the fellowship, the Fellow will receive mentoring, professional development, networking opportunities, research support, and opportunities to engage with leading scholars, practitioners, government officials, contractors, and other organizations in the field.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The Fellow will conduct research in government procurement law and policy in the Fellow’s area of interest or expertise and is expected to produce publishable scholarship during the fellowship. The Fellow is also encouraged to present that work at professional conferences and programs, with funding provided through the Law School as determined by the Associate Dean for Government Procurement Law.


The Fellow will play a substantial role in the Government Procurement Law Program’s academic, professional, and public-facing work. Working closely with the Associate Dean, the Fellow will help support and advance the Program’s initiatives, events, external engagement, student advising, and communications.


The Fellow may have the opportunity to co-teach or teach a course in the Government Procurement Law Program after the first semester and may guest lecture in other courses as needed. The Fellow is also expected to supervise and advise students on independent research projects.


The Fellow will contribute to the Program’s public communications, including its social media platforms and blog, Beyond the FAR, and will assist in organizing, publicizing, and executing the Program’s conferences, roundtables, and other events.


Approximately 30-40% of the Fellow’s work, and at times more, depending on the Program’s event calendar and strategic priorities, will involve close collaboration with the Associate Dean on the operation and advancement of the Government Procurement Law Program, including communications, outreach, program development, event execution, and student advising.


Minimum Qualifications


Applicants must have:

  • A J.D. or equivalent international degree;
  • An LL.M. in government procurement law or a related field, J.D. coursework in government procurement law or a related field, or a master’s degree in a related field;
  •  Strong academic writing, research, and organizational skills;
  • Government procurement law practice experience, teaching experience, published government procurement law scholarship, or another comparable demonstration of commitment to government procurement law;
  • Collaborative program and event management experience;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • The ability to work independently; and
  • Demonstrated experience in social media or web-based engagement.


Advertised Salary: $75,000
